Revolution registration ends this Wednesday at midnight!

Registration for the Revolution 3.17.12 ends at midnight on Wednesday, 3.14,12.  If you haven’t registered yet, you better get on it.  No late registrations will be accepted.  Also please make sure to double check your weight if you registerd early.  Changes need to be made by Wednesday as well.  For registration and more information visit leapllc.com.

The gym will be closed on Saturday March 17th for the tournament.  Come out and support the Sleeper Athetlics Competition Team .  We have a strong crew of adult and youth competitors that have been training hard and are looking good.  Spectator cost is $5 for adults (17 and up) and free for kids (under 16).  If you want to carpool, talk to Cindy to arrange a ride.

Revolution is coming. Extra training day for adults – Tues 3.6

 

Revolution 3.17.12 is right around the corner and we have a good crew of adult competitors getting ready.  We will be having an extra adult class on Tuesday 3.6 7:30-8:30 to get some more mat time in.  We will be tightenng up technique and practicing sparring with ref and scoreoards so that everyone is familiar with the rules and point system.  If you are competing, or even if you are not, try to make this class.

UFC 144 at Piecora’s – Saturday 2.26

 

UFC 144 Japan has a great line up, so come out to watch the fights and hang out with the Sleeper Crew at Piecora’s Pizza on Capitol Hill.  Fights start 7PM.  Prelims before.  $10 at the door.  Good pizza, mellow crowd and fights showing in two rooms. They usually have parking in the back (for a tip).

And it is Cord’s birthday, so have a drink or bet on some fights with him :)

Hey everyone a few changes to the Youth Schedule.  Youth Wrestling Class is moving from Monday to Tuesday 6:00-7:30.  Friday wrestling class will stay the same, 5:00-6:30.  Monday 5:30-6:30 will now be Youth Basic Submission Grappling.  Click on the image above to view the full schedule page.

Also, don’t forget that we are also offering Adult BJJ classes in Seattle on Thursdays 8:30-9:30pm at Alpha Martial Arts on Capitol Hill.

Big changes to the Youth rules for the 2012 Revolution Season.  We will be going over the new rule set with all team members over the next week.  And the score boards will be coming out during sparring.  Parents please make sure to go over the new rules as well to make sure everyone is clear on allowed and disallowed holds.  We will also have a meeting in the next week or so for all parent/stuedent coaches to review the rules and strategize competitor game plans.  We have a good team of kids and adults planning to compete and want to make sure we are all prepared for the rule changes.

Check out the Seattle Times article, Cage fighters find beauty in the beatings.  Despite a few factual errors, Maureen O’hagan does a decent job  of trying to understand and unravel the mystery of why people are drawn to training and competing in MMA.  The article also gives a basic overview of the local MMA landscape and highlights local fighters such as Jeff Bourgeois, Andy Paves and Jeff Hougland.

Sleeper Kids take WWKWL championships by storm!!!!

Sleeper Athletics Youth Wrestling Team had a great showing at the WWKWL Championships in Lake Stevens. The SA team included 3 wrestlers and took home 3 medals. Ian won every match by pin and earned 1st place in the intermediate division. Tenocht had a stellar performance in his 2nd wreslting tournament appeareance, winning 1st place in the bantam division. And Sleeper Atheltics newest addition, Jacob had some tough matches and was able to secure 4th place in the intermediate divisions.

The kids hard work and dedication shined through and the whole Sleeper Team is super proud of them. Also, a huge congratulations to Coach Syd for all of his teaching and patience getting the kids ready. We couldn’t have done it without you. And lastly thanks to all of the parents, teammates, Larry Springberg, Sammamish Bulldogs Wrestling and Pin City wrestling for the support and help. We couldn’t have done it without any of you. Great job to all!!!!!!

WWKWL Wrestling Championships – Feb 12 Lake Stevens

Western Washington Kids Wrestling League

The Sleeper Atheltics Youth Wrestling Team is off to Lake Stevens tomorrow morning for the final WWKWL tournament of the season.  Representing Sleeper Athletics will be Tenocht , Ian  and Jacob (also wrestling for Sammamish Bulldogs).  Both competitors have been traning hard and are ready to go.

If you are interested in attending the event will be held at Cavalero Mid/Highschool in Lake Stevens, Washington.
